Now that Season 3 of World of Warcraft: The War Within has been live for quite a while, there have been several patches that provided various balance tunings to the specs that needed it. Most of the specs are somewhat settled in their spots and performance in different content. Since Mythic+ is the only infinity scaling content in the game, it’s really important to play the best performing classes in the highest levels. Before you kickstart the Mythic+ gameplay, you can buy WoW gold to gear up so you don’t fall behind others.
S Tier – Best Melee DPS Classes
All the specs in the S-tier are top-notch in terms of damage output, utility, and survivability. The S-tier specs have almost no weaknesses and are always the best option for any team composition. These specs will contribute to the group much more than the rest of the roster.
Frost Death Knight
Frost Death Knight is by far the best performing melee DPS this season. It has an amazing damage profile, with very strong AoE and priority damage, while also being one of the best in single target. Since the rework of “Breath of Sindragosa,” Frost DK now has one of the best cooldowns every 90 seconds. The spec also has a utility that perfectly fits M+ content.

Frost Death Knight is almost unkillable, with very high HP and Armor, while also having access to strong defensives like “Anti-Magic Shell.” The only thing this spec does not have is a raid buff, but this is not an issue since the damage itself more than compensates. Since Frost DK scales very well with items and stats, checking out the WoW gold prices and purchasing the best consumables, gems, and enchants will increase its performance significantly.
Havoc Demon Hunter
Havoc DH is in a really good spot this season. It has the best funnel damage in the game, which also translates to one of the best priority damage outputs. It also has strong single-target and AoE damage profiles. Havoc Demon Hunter performs best with coordinated groups, but it can also do very well with players who do not communicate. The utility is also very good, and it is very tanky this season due to its built-in Leech.
A Tier
The A-tier specializations are an excellent choice as a second or even third DPS in the group. In terms of performance, they are close to the S-tier but fall short in either damage, utility, or survivability. That said, they are still very solid and can perform well in the highest levels of M+.
Fury Warrior
Fury Warrior has seen great success after its changes. Even though the spec has a target cap, it can still dish out respectable AoE damage. Where Fury Warrior excels is in single-target and priority damage. It has one of the strongest bursts in the game and is very competitive with the S-tier specs in terms of overall damage. The specialization is also very powerful in terms of tankiness, but struggles with utility.
Subtlety Rogue
Sub Rogue is the best performing Rogue spec this patch. It has decent AoE and very strong single-target damage. Its priority damage is a bit lacking, but this is compensated for by its unmatched burst during cooldowns. In terms of survivability, it is doing decently, but the utility starts to fall behind some of the other classes and even other Rogue specs.
Unholy Death Knight
Unholy Death Knight, just like Frost, has excellent utility for M+ and is hard to kill while playing this spec. However, its damage profile is not as strong, though it is still above average. It has one of the best uncapped AoE damage outputs, but in single-target, it does not perform as well as other specs.
Feral Druid
Feral Druid is performing decently this season. It has a good damage profile in almost every encounter. It’s a jack of all trades and easily scales with items. It also provides Druid utility and “Mark of the Wild,” which is one of the best buffs in the game.
The survivability is a bit low, but with enough effort, it can survive the hardest content. If you want to further enhance your Feral Druid, you can purchase cheap WoW gold and invest it in the character for better results.
Assassination Rogue
Assassination Rogue is solid this season. It has one of the top priority damage profiles and performs sufficiently in every AoE pull.

It’s also decent on single-target and is the Rogue spec with the most utility and crowd control.
B Tier
The specializations in this tier usually struggle with throughput or excel in just one particular area. They are still viable and decent, but players have to put in much more effort to get results close to the specs of the upper tiers.
- Good choice if you need a specific utility or group buffs
- Requires more skill and effort to perform well compared to higher tiers
- Viable for niche situations or as a secondary DPS option
Outlaw Rogue
Outlaw Rogue has ideal damage, but it is somewhat reliant on full physical comps. The target cap is also an issue, and it needs to play with a coordinated group that works around its cooldowns and target cap to do decent damage. Utility and survivability are very similar to Sub, just with a much weaker damage profile.
Retribution Paladin
Retribution Paladin is doing excellent in AoE, but when it comes to priority or single-target damage, it starts to perform very poorly. It’s also a very bursty spec, so if the mobs are not dying fast, it loses most of its value. It’s very durable, and the utility is strong, making it a decent choice if the group needs Paladin utility.
Enhancement Shaman
Enhancement Shaman is not doing so well in this season. It has mediocre AoE, decent single target, and priority damage. It brings a useful buff, and its utility is also good, but in terms of survivability, it’s near the bottom.
Survival Hunter
Survival Hunter is not doing too badly in terms of damage. It has a very solid damage profile for AoE and priority damage, as well as pretty decent single-target as well. However, their utility is very niche, hard to use, and the spec still struggles with surviving most mechanics, even after the changes it received.
Windwalker Monk
Windwalker Monk has amazing single-target and cleave, but due to its target cap, it performs very badly in M+ content. Unless it’s played in a group where there won’t be more than 7 to 8 mobs on a pull, Windwalker will be underperforming. In terms of survivability is decent, and the utility is also not so bad.
C Tier
The specs in C Tier have a major issue with throughput. These specs are performing really badly compared to the rest of the DPS specs and need immediate attention from Blizzard. Even when played near perfectly, the value they provide is simply too low to be even considered as a viable pick.
Arms Warrior
Arms Warrior has the second-worst damage profile in the game. It has mediocre at best AoE and priority damage, but where it struggles is its virtually non-existent single target. The spec is not strong enough even when played well, and it’s close to being unplayable in higher Keys. The survivability is also bad, and there is no other reason to take Arms Warrior unless the group really needs the “Battle Shout” buff and cannot find Fury or Protection Warrior.
